A peak inside the emergency room, a view of stroke telemedicine and digital mammography equipment, and a glimpse of hyperbaric oxygen chambers used to treat hard to heal wounds are what visitors will have if they attend an open house at Coastal Carolina Hospital on Thursday, March 10.
The open house will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the hospital, 1000 Medical Center Drive in Hardeeville. There will be guided tours, heavy hors d’oeuvres and free gifts (while supplies last) for attendees.
“We’re inviting people in our community to come get the inside scoop on Coastal Carolina Hospital,” said Bill Masterton, the hospital’s CEO. “Our hospital has grown a lot over the last year. There are new services and there are new physicians on staff,” Masterton said.
In 2010, Coastal launched a stroke telemedicine program with the Medical University of South Carolina, allowing patients experiencing a stroke to have access to advanced neurological treatment. It began offering digital mammography and opened a primary care practice. “We want the community to know about these services,” Masterton said.
In addition, open house attendees will have a chance to meet hospital board and community leaders, hospital staff and physicians representing specialties such as primary care, orthopedics, emergency medicine, general surgery and hyperbaric oxygen therapy/wound care. There will be displays about primary care, patient financial services, hospital volunteers, the hospital’s Sun City Advisory Board and the Blood Alliance, which now provides blood products for the hospital.
Coastal Carolina Hospital’s open house is free and open to the public. To RSVP (optional) or for more information, call 877-582-2737 or go to www.coastalhospital.com.
